Derby County’s Tom Lawrence will miss next weekend’s trip to Leeds United due to suspension.

The Wales international forward picked up his fifth booking of the season in Friday night’s 1-1 draw against Cardiff City at Pride Park Stadium.

Lawrence, 25, was cautioned in the latter stages of the clash with the Bluebirds for a foul on Sean Morrison.

As a result, he will serve a one-match suspension and sit out the visit to Elland Road next Saturday.

Manager Phillip Cocu says he’s disappointed to lose a key attacking player for the clash with Marcelo Bielsa’s high-flyers.

The Derby boss told RamsTV: “It is frustrating because to play seven games and have five bookings is too much.

“Especially for a winger, it’s too many. It wasn’t necessary to get booked at the end of the game.

“We have to do without him. He is an important player for us.

“We do have options in an attacking sense and someone will come in to replace him for this game.”

Lawrence, who started the season with two goals in Derby’s 2-1 victory at Huddersfield Town, will be available for selection again when the Rams welcome Birmingham City to Pride Park on Saturday 28th September.
