Striker Jack Marriott is looking forward to locking horns with local rivals Nottingham Forest as the two sides face each other in the Second Round of the Carabao Cup.
The Rams travel to the City Ground on Tuesday night (7:45pm kick-off) in a bid to reach the Third Round of the competition.
The striker made his first league start of the season on Saturday in the 1-1 draw against West Bromwich Albion following recent injuries and Marriott is looking forward to the clash with the Reds.
“It’s a big game,” he told RamsTV. “We all look forward to it and everyone in the city will look forward to it. Hopefully it will be a good game for us.”
The Rams beat Sky Bet League Two side Scunthorpe United 1-0 in the First Round of the competition earlier this month, courtesy of a debut goal from defender Lee Buchanan.
The youngster made his league debut for Derby at the weekend along with fellow Academy graduate Jason Knight, who also made his mark against Scunthorpe two weeks ago.
Marriott has been impressed with how they have applied themselves so far in a Rams shirt.
“The youngsters were great in that first game at Scunthorpe,” he said. “We had Lee and Knighty out that night and they were both great.
“They’ve been involved since then but it shows how our young lads are stepping up.”
And how is the striker feeling following his return from injury?
“I will see how everything is over the next couple of days,” he admitted.
“I will speak to the manager and see how I’m feeling physically and hopefully it will all be good.
“The fans have always been great for me here and long may that continue. I will continue to work hard and see where that takes us.”
