Mason Mount says Derby County’s final six games are 'massive' and earning every point is crucial, starting with Bolton Wanderers on Saturday afternoon.
The young midfielder believes that there's no time to dwell on the midweek loss to Blackburn Rovers at this point in the season.
He feels that the disappointment from the loss at Ewood Park is now in the past and the focus is fully on collecting wins to propel them back towards the play-off places.
The clash at Pride Park against the Trotters kick-starts the final run in of six games to the end of the season with three more at home and three away.
The Rams are currently in eighth place in the Sky Bet Championship, but just five points behind Bristol City in sixth.
Regardless of the other results on the weekend, a win will ensure the Rams move to just three points behind the top-six.
Mount believes the focus should be completely on the Rams and making sure their own performance edges them closer.
“We will learn from the Blackburn Rovers game, but there are so few games left now that we just have to leave it behind us now and focus on the next game,” Mount told RamsTV.
“Every game is so important and every point we have left to play for is so important now.
“We need to win our games now and that is the focus, starting with Bolton at home. That is definitely a game we can win, and we are focused on doing that.”
He added: “The teams around us are playing each other and we have Bristol City coming up as well, so it is all tight in there. One win puts us straight back up there. Anything can happen, and we know that. Every game we have left to play is a massive game for us.
“You always check your phone and check the league to see where you are, but our focus is on our games and we want to get the three points.”
The 20-year-old is urging Rams supporters to get behind them at Pride Park and give their best as he said the players will be doing on the pitch.
“The season is not over,” said Mount.
“Every game is important and we need them to stick with us and be behind us like they have been.
“On the pitch we are just going to be trying our best to get the three points and get that promotion. To get promotion will top the season off with a cherry on top, so that’s what our focus is on fully.”
