Striker Jack Marriott wants to continue his, and the club’s, current good form and finish this block of fixtures off with two positive results.
Derby County face Birmingham and then Aston Villa, both at home, before the next international break and two positive results will cap off a good block of fixtures for Frank Lampard’s side.
The Rams have taken seven points from a possible nine in their last three games, against three in-form promotion-chasing sides, and Marriott is keen to continue that good form.
“We have had three tough games in the Championship as late and we have another two coming up,” Marriott told RamsTV. “We hope we can take six points going into that break.
“We have always said that the performances will get the results. Sometimes that hasn’t been the case, but we hope we can maintain the performance levels and continue to get the results.
“It’s nice to get the plaudits from the Chelsea game but we’ve got to do it tomorrow. We have got to do it here and against Villa next Saturday as well.”
Marriott was part of the Rams side which put in a good display at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night and he scored the equaliser to make it 1-1.
“It’s a great place to get the goal and I thought the lads were outstanding on the night,” he commented. “I thought we held our own and were unfortunate not to get more out of the game. I thought we created the better chances and I thought we played well.
“To concede early on is difficult but the character of the dressing room is to fight back, we did that twice and second half we didn’t sit back.
“We didn’t sit back, we created chances and tried to win the game. We were unfortunate not to do so. We have to take that confidence and bring it back here for the game against Birmingham tomorrow.”
After three consecutive games away from home, the Rams are back in home action tomorrow as Garry Monk’s Blues side visit Pride Park Stadium.
“It seems like it was a while ago since we were at home, especially with the amount of games that we have had and the amount of away games, but it’s good to be back here and we are looking forward to tomorrow,” he said.
“They are coming into the game in good form but we are looking forward to it. They are coming to our place and we hope the fans can get behind us and we can see it over the line.”
The striker has netted five goals in his last eight games, whilst he has been directly involved in six goals in his last five games.
It’s a run that has seen him win plaudits from the footballing world but he’s keen to remain grounded.
“I’m enjoying it,” he admitted. “I’ve had a run in the team and I want to stay in it but that means I will need to continue playing well and scoring goals to do that.
“There is a lot of aspects of my game that I’m showing and the gaffer has been pleased with it. I’ve just got to keep doing that and doing my best for the team.”
