Derby County Under-23s are back in action following the international break as they travel face Liverpool Under-23s at their Melwood training ground.

Darren Wassall’s side are back in action tomorrow afternoon (1pm kick off) following the international break as they face the Reds in Premier League 2 – Division 1.

Here, dcfc.co.uk has everything you need to know ahead of the clash.

SETTING THE SCENE…

Following a two-week break following the international break, the Under-23s face a tough clash away at Liverpool at their Melowood training ground.

And they head into the game in good form. They have only lost one of their last five games, and that came against Manchester City away from home.

They beat high-flying sides Everton and Brighton & Hove Albion to move up to seventh in the table. They sit above Liverpool in the table who are in ninth.

Jacob Butterfield scored the only goal of the game as they beat Brighton and he is expected to be in the side to face Liverpool tomorrow.

Speaking to RamsTV, Wassall said: “We are bang in form in terms of performances and results and you don’t want any breaks when you are playing well but the international break has given us a chance to rejuvenate ourselves.

“The players have trained well this week so we are hoping that we can take that training mentality into the game on Sunday against Liverpool.

“We are above Liverpool in the table at the moment but we take nothing for granted. At this level, Liverpool can field a side that can beat anybody in this division so we are under no illusions that it will be a tough game but we will be ready.”

Midfielder Max Bird added: “Liverpool are going to be a tough team to play against. We have got to be at our best to match them. We know we are the underdogs in the league but we have got to match them physically and mentally and hopefully we can get a good result.”
