Manager Frank Lampard wants his side to put Saturday’s result behind them and replicate the performances against Brentford and Manchester United for tomorrow’s clash with Norwich City.
Derby hit a stumbling block on Saturday as they were beaten 1-0 by Bolton Wanderers, however, performances in the league and cup have proven they can reach the high standards they have set for themselves.
“Playing the way we play is difficult to unlock teams that want to defend,” Lampard told RamsTV. “For me personally to sit back and suck in pressure is probably a safe way to play and Bolton did it well so fair play to them but to try and unlock that defence once they have that goal is difficult.
“We go back to basics. We had loads of plus points from Brentford and Manchester United but we need to get back to that. If we play the way we have been playing then we will be fine. We just want to knock out those moments of inconsistency because in the Championship you get punished.”
Norwich City are the visitors to Pride Park tomorrow evening and they are in good form. They are on a five-game winning streak in all competitions but Lampard is focused on his side putting in a good performance.
“Winning games and jumping up the table can happen and they will come to Pride Park confident, like Brentford did so it’s up to us,” he said. “I go back to the thought that if we are at it and the way that we are playing at home, if we bring that to the table, bring the energy and quality to our game, then we will back ourselves, but we have a huge test.
“They are an in-form team, they have good players and a good manager. They try and play good football, so it should bring an entertaining game.”
