Derby County Under-23s skipper Alex Babos has joined Spanish side Real Unión on loan.
Babos, who is a Wales Under-21 international, has linked up with the Segunda División B side in a loan deal which will run for the 2018/19 campaign.
The 20-year-old has impressed over the last two years for Derby’s Under-23s in Premier League 2 -Division 1 with some fine displays, as well as stepping up to wear the captain’s armband.
He will now link up with Real Unión in a bid to gain first-team match experience in the third tier of Spanish football.
Derby and Real Unión have established close working links in the last 12 months in celebrating the history that the legendary Steve Bloomer made at both clubs.
The name of Steve Bloomer needs little introduction to Derby supporters after he scored 331 goals in 525 games for the club between 1891–1906 and 1910-14 – while he managed Real Union as they won the Copa del Rey, defeating Real Madrid in the Final, in 1924.
The clubs have staged two friendly matches, in October 2017 and July 2018, with the winners claiming the Steve Bloomer Trophy.
In other Under-23 news, goalkeeper Matt Yates has extended his loan deal with Gloucester City until January 2019 after initially linking up with the Vanarama National League South side until the start of September.
