Charles Vernam has left Derby County to join Sky Bet League 2 side Grimsby Town on a two-year contract.

The 21-year-old enjoyed a loan spell with the Mariners last season, making nine appearances and scoring one goal before his stint was interrupted by injury.

Grimsby boss, Michael Jolley, saw enough to complete a permanent switch for the forward for an undisclosed fee.

Vernam, who joined the Rams as a 16-year-old from Scunthorpe United in 2012, made one senior appearance for Derby, making his debut as a substitute in the Emirates FA Cup win over West Bromwich Albion in January 2017.

He has also gone on to enjoy loan spells at Icelandic side IBV and Coventry City.

The club wishes Charles all the best his move to Grimsby.
