A trip to Deepdale rounds off Derby County’s Easter and they travel with the aim of completing the double over Preston North End.

Derby County have won on their last three visits to the Lilywhites (kick-off: 12:45pm) and here, dcfc.co.uk has collated all the information you need ahead of the clash with Alex Neil’s side…

WHAT’S THE LATEST TEAM NEWS

Gary Rowett is likely to make changes to his squad on Easter Monday following Friday’s defeat to Sunderland.

In his post-match interview, he said: “I’ll have to have a good look at the team because I have got some big decisions to make.”

Andre Wisdom, David Nugent, Joe Ledley and Kasey Palmer were all on the bench and could be called upon in Lancashire.

Sam Winnall is Derby’s only long-term absentee.

WHAT WAS SAID AHEAD OF THE TRIP TO PRESTON?

Speaking to RamsTV ahead of the Easter Monday’s trip to Deepdale, Gary Rowett said: “We have to improve and we have to improve fast.

“It’s very difficult but I’ll be the first one to stand up and take responsibility, and if the buck stops with me, then so be it.

“I’m brave enough to take it on the chin. When things don’t go well, you see the character of the players.

“That’s when you really need people to step up, but it was a poor, poor display and whilst we don’t deserve to be in the top-six, we still are.

“We have to do something about it, and quickly because we know that results have not been good enough to keep us in there.”

ONE TO WATCH

The latest of the Irish contingent to switch to Lancashire, Sean Maguire is quickly developing a reputation as a lethal striker in the English game.

He had already shown his credentials in front of goal prior to his move to Preston back in his homeland after scoring in 14 successive League of Ireland games for Cork City – 20 goals in total.

But after scoring only twice in his first 12 games for the Lilywhites and missing five months of 2017/18 season with a serious hamstring problem, he enters the Easter period as one of the Sky Bet Championship’s form strikers.

Maguire has found the back of the net in Preston’s last four matches, five in total, since returning from injury.

The 23-year-old initially started out at Waterford United scoring 14 goals in 34 games before moving to West Ham United. A couple of loan spells followed with Sligo Rovers and Accrington Stanley before a permanent move to Dundalk.

Cork were his next team and where he really found his form – the forward plundered 36 goals in 48 games, prompting PNE to snap him up. He finished top scorer in the division with 18 goals in his first season at Cork City and was a part of the Cork City Europa League qualifying campaign in his second.

WHAT HAPPENED LAST TIME OUT?

DERBY COUNTY 1-0 PRESTON NORTH END
Tuesday 15th August, 2017

Matej Vydra’s 58th minute penalty secured Derby County a deserved first victory of the 2017/18 campaign when they last met Preston North End back in August.

Much-improved from their defeat to Wolves in the previous game, Gary Rowett’s side dominated for large spells and created chances aplenty over the course of the 90 minutes with Vydra’s first goal of the season proving to be enough against Alex Neil’s men.

Derby County: Carson, Wisdom, Keogh (C), Davies, Olsson, Huddlestone, Johnson, Weimann, Vydra (Bryson, 68), Russell, Nugent (Martin, 76)

Substitutes not used: Mitchell, Martin, Baird, Pearce, Butterfield, Bennett

Preston North End: Maxwell Cunningham (C), Browne, Hugill, Johnson, Fisher, Spurr (Maguire, 70), Davies, Huntington, Barkhuizen (Horgan, 62), Robinson (Gallagher, 59)

Substitutes not used: Hudson, Vermijl, Boyle, Harrop

WHO’S THE MAN IN THE MIDDLE?

Tony Harrington will be the man in the middle when Derby County travel to Preston North End to complete a busy Easter on Monday at Deepdale.

Harrington has officiated 30 games so far this term, the majority coming in the Sky Bet Championship, from which he has produced 104 yellow card and four red cards.

It will be the third time this season that he will be in charge of a match involving the Rams. The first was on Boxing Day when Derby’s trip to Hull ended in a goalless draw.

The second came at the end of February when Gary Rowett’s men drew 3-3 with Reading in a game that saw Chris Baird sent off late in the final minutes following a challenge on Mo Barrow.

In total, Monday’s referee has officiated seven games involving the Rams during his career resulting in three wins, three draws and just one defeat.

Harrington will be assisted by Mark Dwyer and Mark Russell on the lines, whilst Jeremy Simpson has been appointed as the fourth official.
