The impact of Andreas Weimann has been clear for all to see over the Rams’ recent run of results.

Through his extremely high work-rate, Weimann has been crucial in Derby’s recent success, particularly away from home, and against Barnsley, the Austrian wideman managed to add another string to his bow by netting the final goal to seal all three points.

Though he has been close on a number of occasions recently, Weimann spoke of his delight to, finally, get back on the scoresheet.

Speaking to RamsTV, he said: “It’s finally come!

“Obviously, it was nice to get the assist in the first half, but it seemed to open up and I concentrated hard to get it on target.

“It went in and I’m really happy.

“I caught the ball really nicely. It bounced well and like I said, it opened up enough to get the shot away.”

Looking back at the game, a cagey start from Gary Rowett’s side saw possession exchanged for the first half-an-hour.

But glimpses of attacking intent shone through for the Rams before they eventually created a 2-0 lead inside the space of four minutes through Tom Lawrence and Matej Vydra in the latter stages of the first-half.

And in the second-half, Barnsley looked for a way back into the game quickly before the game was eventually put to bed by Weimann.

It was a big goal, but nothing less than the Rams deserved.

The wideman went on to say: “In the first half we weren’t as settled on the ball as we wanted to be and we played a bit too hectic.

“Once we got it down and played, that’s where the two goals came from, so if we can do that more often, it will definitely stand us in good stead.

“In the second half we didn’t start as composed as we wanted to. We knew that they were going to come at us because of being 2-0 down.

“They threw everything at us but Scotty (Carson) made a great save at 2-0. That was important because if that had gone in, it would have changed the game.

“In the end we managed to get the clean sheet and it was just nice to get the third because the game was dead and buried then.”

He added: “We didn’t have too many chances but we scored the ones that we got so that’s really good, especially away from home as we know we can keep a clean sheet.

“We have been really resilient at the back in keeping the clean sheets and up front, we’ve got the confidence to get goals, whoever is on the pitch.”
