Gary Rowett hopes to have attacking duo Andreas Weimann and Tom Lawrence fit for Derby County’s weekend showdown with Millwall.
In their final game before Christmas, the Rams will take on Neil Harris’ side at Pride Park Stadium on Saturday afternoon (3pm kick-off).
Weimann picked up a knock in last weekend’s home win over his former club Aston Villa, while Lawrence missed the game with an ankle injury sustained in the victory at Barnsley the previous week.
In-form Weimann has scored in each of his last two appearances and forcing his way back into the starting line-up in recent weeks, while Wales international Lawrence has been a near ever-present after joining from Premier League Leicester City back in August.
Rowett says the pair will continue to have their fitness monitored ahead of the clash with the Lions.
He told RamsTV this morning: “Andi Weimann should be fine after training on Tuesday, as long as there’s no reaction.
“Tom Lawrence was due to train today (Thursday) but he might not be 100 per cent in doing that.
“We’ll see how Tom gets on and view that accordingly.”
Rowett has insisted that Derby are unlikely to take any risks when it comes to bringing players back into the fold from the treatment room.
With the games coming thick and fast over the festive period, he is keen to avoid injuries.
He said: “The beauty of when things are going well is that you don’t necessarily have to chuck players back into action without them being a hundred per cent ready and taking a risk.”
