Luke Thomas has been nominated for September’s Premier League 2 Player of the Month award.
The 18-year-old wideman, signed from Cheltenham Town in January 2016, started all four matches over the course of last month and scored his first goal of the season in the Rams’ harsh 5-2 defeat to Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium.
Nevertheless, his individual display caught the eye and he only built on that during a standout personal month, in which he helped Darren Wassall’s side record an important 2-1 victory away at Manchester United and open their Premier League Cup campaign with a 1-0 win at Birmingham City.
He is the second Derby player this season to be nominated for the monthly award after Kellan Gordon, now on loan at Sky Bet League 2 side Swindon Town, was put forward for August.
Thomas is up against Joseph Nuttall (Blackburn Rovers), Hamza Choudhury (Leicester City), Harry Wilson (Liverpool), Brahim Diaz (Manchester City), Donovan Wilson (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Callum Hudson-Odoi (Chelsea), Oliver McBurnie (Swansea City).
The winner of the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award will be revealed next Friday (13th October).
