Derby County’s Timi Max Elsnik is looking forward to the challenge of getting regular first-team football under his belt after linking up with Swindon Town on a season-long loan deal.
The 19-year-old Slovenian youth international midfielder, after making three substitute appearances for the Rams at senior level in the last 12 months, will spend the entire 2017/18 campaign at the Sky Bet League 2 side.
The youngster joined the Robins on Transfer Deadline Day alongside fellow Ram Kellan Gordon who, like Elsnik, is looking to gain first-team match experience.
“It is a challenge to play league football, play some first-team football and that was the main thing to get out here and play some big man’s football,” he told swindontownfc.co.uk.
“It is getting the experience we need for our careers and I’m happy to have Kellan with me. We’re looking forward to it.
“It is easier when there’s two of you and I’m happy he’s here with me.
“Every footballer plays football to win so being on a winning side and being part of a team that has promotion aspirations makes you hungrier to perform well for the fans.
“We want to help the team get as many wins as possible."
Elsnik, who started the season as captain of Derby’s Under-23s, is determined to return to Pride Park Stadium a better player.
“I want to get as many minutes as I can, do well for the club, and get us promoted,” he said.
“I also want to go back to Derby a better player.”
