Derby County is pleased to announce that former defender Marc Edworthy has taken up an ambassadorial role with the club.

The 44-year-old, a former Rams player between 2005 and 2008, joins Roy McFarland, Roger Davies and Michael Johnson as a club ambassador and will represent the club in its mission to engage, connect and assist the local community.

Edworthy will combine his new role by assisting with the club’s matchday hospitality operations as well as the work he carries out with RamsTV.

John Vicars, Derby’s chief operating officer, said: “We are pleased that Marc has accepted our offer of an ambassadorial position at the club.

“He is someone that supporters know very well from his years as a player here, but also more recently for the excellent work he is doing with RamsTV.

“Marc was very passionate as a player and achieved a great deal within the game, but what impresses us most is his knowledge of Derby County and his desire to see the club improve and be successful, on and off the pitch.”

“He will be a great addition to the ambassadorial team we have got in place at the club, joining Roy, Roger and Michael.”

Edworthy added: “I’m delighted to have this opportunity after working alongside the club in a number of different positions over the last few years.

“Part of this role will enable me to get out in the community alongside Roy, Roger and Michael. I am also looking forward to continuing my work with RamsTV, a fantastic project which is only going to get better and better, and on a matchday alongside the dedicated matchday hospitality team.”

After beginning his playing career at Plymouth Argyle, Edworthy went on to play for Crystal Palace, Coventry City, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Norwich City, Leicester City and Burton Albion, as well as the Rams over a career spanning 19 years.

In total, he pulled on the Rams shirt 85 times and helped the club win promotion to the Premier League during the 2006/07 campaign, via the play-offs.

Edworthy, a full back, won promotion to the top flight on three other occasions too – with Palace, Wolves and Norwich – and made over 500 career appearances in club football.
