Derby County’s first-team squad will take part in two pre-season friendly matches at the same time this evening.

Manager Gary Rowett will send one group of players to take on Sky Bet League 1 side Doncaster Rovers at the Keepmoat Stadium, while the other will travel to Sky Bet League 2 outfit Port Vale.

Both games will kick-off at 7:45pm and, like with the playing squad, Derby’s coaching staff will be split across the two matches.

Rowett feels that playing two games on the same evening will prove to be beneficial for Derby in two ways; a large number of players will get 90 minutes under their belts and, as a result, have the same training schedule throughout the week.

Rowett’s side will play a total of seven friendly matches in total in the lead-up to the big kick-off at Sunderland in just under two weeks’ time, on Friday 4th August.

So far it’s a case of two down, five to go! Derby have two wins from two to their name following the 4-0 victory at National League – North side Kidderminster Harriers last Tuesday and the 2-0 success at National League Macclesfield Town on Saturday.

With all of the squad playing 45 minutes each in the two matches, with the exception of Jamie Hanson who played the full game at Macclesfield, the Rams’ players will see an increase in the demands asked of them this evening.

Supporters will be able to watch the Port Vale game on RamsTV's live stream for FREE - simply by registering an account on dcfc.co.uk – while the Matchday Live show will also include the key moments and goals from the game at Doncaster.

A full match report and reaction will also be on dcfc.co.uk and RamsTV from both matches.
