Derby County pair Richard Keogh and Cyrus Christie helped the Republic of Ireland to a goalless draw against Wales in their latest 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifier on Friday evening.
The two sides had to settle for a point apiece in a tight Group D contest at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.Wales played the last 20 minutes with ten men after Neil Taylor was shown a straight red card for a challenge on Ireland right-back Seamus Coleman, who was taken to hospital after sustaining a broken leg.
Keogh played the full game in central defence, with Christie coming off the bench to replace the injured Coleman during the second half.
Another Rams player, defender Alex Pearce, was an unused substitute.
Derby boss Gary Rowett attended the game to watch Keogh and Christie in action, following his appointment as manager just under two weeks ago.
Ireland are back in action at the Aviva Stadium on Tuesday (28th March) for a friendly against Iceland.
Elsewhere, Derby midfielder Will Hughes was an unused substitute as England’s Under 21s were beaten 1-0 away to Germany in an international friendly.
The 21-year-old, however, will be hoping to play some part in their next friendly, which is away to Denmark on Monday (27th March).
