Derby County have been awarded the tier two Regional Talent Club license to further develop the highly-successful Girls Centre of Excellence.

The license, which is funded nationally by the FA, will see the Derby County Community Trust deliver an elite football programme for girls aged U10, U12, U14 and U16.

The award will see the Girls Centre of Excellence, which has been running for seven years, convert into a Regional Talent Club.

The Girls Centre of Excellence already has a proven track record of developing players into England Talent Camps, England Squads, Derby County Ladies and Women's Super League Clubs.

Head of Community Simon Carnall said: “We are proud and delighted to have been allocated the tier two Regional Talent Club License and look forward to developing our relationship with Derby County Ladies to offer outstanding opportunities to female players.”

He added: “We are hugely passionate and committed to developing the female side of the game, our commitment over the past seven years through the Centre of Excellence and grass roots provision demonstrates that.”
