Derby County have appointed Jed Buxton as the club’s Supporter Liaison Officer.
The Supporter Liaison Officer (SLO) role in clubs was introduced by the Football League in 2012 and followed one of the recommendations of the Culture, Media and Sport Select Committee.
Every club in The Football League has an SLO, whose responsibilities are not only to act as a point of contact for supporters but also to deliver the club's policy with regards to its stakeholders insofar as that policy concerns supporters; and to liaise with the club's management with regard to supporter issues.
As the Rams continually strive for excellence across all areas, the club identified a need for a full time Supporter Liaison Officer to manage fan services and work closely with supporter groups on fan engagement.
The aim of the Supporter Liaison Officer (SLO) is to build and maintain dialogue between fans of Derby County and the club itself.
In his role, Jed will promote co-operation, understanding and partnership between supporters and club.
The ultimate aim is to create advocacy for the club, among all stakeholders, including staff, supporters, away supporters and the local community.
The role covers:
* Acting as key contact for all Derby County Supporters Groups
* Developing a comprehensive understanding of all relevant matters affecting the club and Supporters (including, but not limited to, safety regulations, ticketing regulations, travel arrangements, etc)
* Gathering feedback (formally and informally) from supporters, identify key issues and opportunities and communicate these to the club
* Communicating key information to supporters and other stakeholders
* Support endeavours to continually improve relationships with key stakeholders
* Establishing and maintaining communications with SLOs at other clubs
* Actively seeking out ‘best practices’, ‘benchmark’ clubs and other opportunities for improvement
* Conducting regular fan surveys on a variety of topics, reporting back to key stakeholders where there is room for improvement across the business and an opportunity for growth
* Managing all fan service emails and letters, responding in line with the club’s Fan Charter
