Paul Clement believes the point recorded in Derby County’s 0-0 draw at Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday evening could prove to be ‘a very good one’ in the long-run.

Derby extended their unbeaten run to seven matches in the goalless stalemate at Ewood Park.

Chances were limited for both sides in Lancashire and the draw helped ensure that Derby remain unbeaten away from home in the Sky Bet Championship this season.

The Rams have won three and drawn three of their six fixtures on the road and are one of three teams in the division to avoid a defeat on their travels.

Derby’s Head Coach felt a draw was a fair result and he was quick to add that the Rams’ dressing room was an upbeat one post-match.

He told Rams Player HD: “On reflection a draw was fair and the right result.

“We didn’t create any clear-cut chances to win the game and Blackburn didn’t really have any either.

“They had a deflected shot late on which could have spun into the net but Scott Carson was alert to make the save.

“It was hard fought game and keenly contested; we showed good discipline to stay in control and keep eleven players on the pitch.

“In the long run this could turn into a very good point for us and the clean sheet, and extending the unbeaten run, is good for confidence.

“The dressing room is an upbeat one because of all the positives I’ve just said.”

Derby have conceded just three goals in their six away games in the league this season.

During that time they have kept three clean sheets and Clement was quick to, once again, praise Derby’s defensive form.

He said: “We defended resiliently; we had to deal with a lot of balls and crosses into our box.

“What we have shown, whenever we have come up against that style of football, we can stand up to it.

“We would obviously like to play like we did in the win against Wolves on Sunday every week but that isn’t always possible.

“We used up a lot of energy on Sunday and coming away to Blackburn in midweek, which is a difficult place to come to, this is a valuable point.”

Derby are back in Championship action on Saturday with a trip to Huddersfield Town in what will be their third game inside seven days.

Clement added: “It’s a busy time for us so we’ll recover quickly and get ourselves ready for Huddersfield.

“We’ll reflect on this game and get ourselves prepared for another tough game.”
