Derby County fan Richard Jones has won the Sky Bet Transfer Fund, giving the Rams £250,000 to spend on new players in the Summer Window.

Jones was randomly selected from over 100,000 Football League fans who entered the competition.

Derby are able to use the £250,000 on transfer fees, loan fees or towards new players’ wages.

Jones, who is 27, said: “It was a really nerve-wracking moment as the ball was being drawn, but when my name came out, it was fantastic.

“I’m really happy to have helped Derby County to win the £250,000 Transfer Fund!”

Jones was entered into the draw after he linked his Sky Bet account with Derby County and collected Transfer Fund tokens throughout the season.

Derby were selected in the final 10 in a pre-draw last week, before being picked out of the pot at Sky Sports News Studio today.

The event was hosted by Sky Bet Transfer Fund ambassadors Jim White and Natalie Sawyer, who also presented Jones with a cheque for £5,000.

The nine clubs to miss out in the draw were Peterborough United, Carlisle United, Ipswich Town, Cardiff City, Rotherham United, Coventry City, Newport County, Bolton Wanderers and Southend United.
