Rams forward plays 73 minutes as Reggae Boyz beat Trinidad & Tobago 4-3 on penalties

Simon Dawkins played 73 minutes as he helped Jamaica lift the Caribbean Cup in the early hours of the morning.

The Reggae Boyz secured their sixth Caribbean Cup after beating Trinidad & Tobago via the lottery of a penalty shoot out at the Montego Bay Sports Complex.

The encounter finished 0-0 after both regular time and extra time, but Leeds United’s Rudolph Austin scored the decisive fifth penalty to claim victory over the Trinidadians.

The Boyz have now qualified for the eagerly anticipated special edition of the Copa America Centenario, which is the 100th anniversary of the South American Championships.

It was Jamaica's first win since lifting the trophy under the guidance of coach Theodore Whitmore in Martinique in 2010.

Under a special arrangement, six teams from CONCACAF plus the 10 South American nations will participate.

Dawkins will now link back up with his Derby County team mates on Friday ahead of the Rams’ trip to Watford on Saturday.
