Rams defender in Republic of Ireland call-up.

Derby County’s Cyrus Christie is to join fellow team-mates Richard Keogh and Jeff Hendrick in the Republic of Ireland's squad for their upcoming international games against Scotland and the USA.

Christie, 22, qualifies for the Republic of Ireland through his Nan, who was born in Dublin.

He is now in line to make his first-ever international appearance after landing his maiden call-up, hot on the heels of the Rams’ 5-0 thrashing of Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday at the iPro Stadium.

He has made 18 appearances for Derby so far this season following his arrival from Coventry City in July and the right-back has made an instant impact with a succession of impressive displays.

Martin O’Neill’s men are away to Scotland in their latest Euro 2016 qualifier on Friday 14th November before taking on the USA at the Aviva Stadium in an international friendly on Tuesday 18th November.

Keogh and Hendrick, who were named in O’Neill’s provisional squad last month, will join Christie in the final squad.

Keogh, 28, has six full caps to his name and captained the Republic of Ireland for their international friendly against Oman in September, while Hendrick has nine caps and set up John O'Shea equaliser in their 1-1 draw away to Germany last month.
