Academy player gains international cap for Scotland at Under 19 level.
Derby County Academy defender Sam Dryden won his first international cap for Scotland at Under 19 level on Tuesday evening.
Full-back Dryden, who is in the second year of his scholarship agreement with the Rams, came off the bench after 70 minutes in a 2-0 defeat to Belgium’s Under 19 side at the Belgium Training Centre in Tubize.
A goal after four minutes from Mamadou Obbi Oulare and a second-half strike from Nany Dimata secured the win for Belgium.
The friendly game was used as preparation for Ricky Sbragia’s side ahead of their UEFA Under-19 Championship qualifying round matches in early October.
Scotland’s next fixture is a friendly against the Czech Republic next month at Cappielow Park, Greenock.
