Former Ram Poom to appear at an exclusive Signing Session in the DCFCMegastore today.

Mart Poom has been confirmed as the latest legend to return to Derby County - and he will be appearing at the DCFCMegastore for a Signing Session this afternoon.

Poom, who is now aged 41, will be in attendance for the Rams’ home game with Doncaster Rovers at the iPro Stadium tomorrow (Saturday 21st December 2013, 3pm) as a special guest of the club.

As part of his return, Poom will conduct a Signing Session in the DCFCMegastore later today (Friday 20th December) between 3:30pm-4:30pm.

Prior to kick-off against Doncaster, Poom will take part in a Question & Answer session in the Dave Mackay Lounge as part of the £99 Gold Hospitality Package. You can book your seat by visiting WeAreDerby.com/hospitality or by calling 0871 472 1884 (option 3).

Derby have welcomed former stars Stefano Eranio and Igor Stimac back to the club in recent weeks and Poom is the latest to accept an invite from the club.

Poom has a relationship with all three members of Derby’s current coaching staff as Head Coach Steve McClaren was Assistant Manager to Jim Smith when he joined the club, while First Team Coach Paul Simpson was on the playing staff and Goalkeeping Coach Eric Steele held the same role at the club at that time.

The Estonian goalkeeper made 166 appearances for the club between March 1997 and January 2003 after signing for just £500,000 from Portsmouth.

Signed by Jim Smith, Poom made his debut in Derby’s sensational 3-2 win at Manchester United in April 1997, which famously remembered for Paulo Wanchope’s stunning individual goal.

At 6ft 4ins, Poom was an imposing figure between the posts and his tremendous agility and ability to command his penalty area made him a popular figure with supporters.

He was named as the Rams’ Player of the Year in 1999/2000 and less than a year after joining Sunderland, in September 2003, he scored an injury-time equaliser for the Black Cats in a 1-1 draw at Pride Park Stadium with an unstoppable header after going up for a corner.

Poom later went on to play for Arsenal and Watford before hanging up his gloves in 2009, with an astonishing 120 caps to his name for his country.
