dcfc.co.uk takes a closer look at some of the first-team players on Twitter.

As the Derby County players - from the first-team to the Academy - are always keen to air their views on various Social Media outputs, the Rams’ media team reveal who has the most followers on Twitter, as well as some of the players’ top tweets in recent weeks.

1. @willhughes44 27,186 followers

The Rams’ England Under-21 international Will Hughes currently tops the list, beating his closest rival by over 12,000 followers.

Last week Will tweeted: "Regardless of what team you support, we all know Sir Alex has been the boss #legend," following the announcement of Sir Alex Ferguson's impending retirement at the end of the 2012/13 campaign.

2. @Sammon18 13,427 followers

With 13,427 followers, Conor Sammon comes in at second place amongst the Rams’ first-team players.

The former Wigan Athletic striker recently tweeted about his delight at the Rams' capture of fellow striker Chris Martin on a permanent basis: "Delighted Chris Martin has signed permanently...exciting times ahead for the Rams!!!"

3. @Barks5 11,953 followers

With a podium finish, Club captain Shaun Barker takes the bronze medal. After suffering a serious knee injury in February last year, the central defender has used his social media page to tweet pictures of his recovery, as well as his music recommendations.

Last week Barker paid tribute to former team-mate Paul Warne, after the centre-back attended the Rotherham cult-hero's testimonial: "I've only ever met 1 player in football that can run as much as @paulwarne16 He couldn't do it whilst talking u through it though!!"

4. @bryso7 11,616 followers

Scottish international midfielder Craig Bryson is a Twitter hit with just over eleven and a half thousand followers. The 26-year-old is renowned for his micky taking on the social media site amongst his teammates…

Recently Bryson sarcastically praised Kieron Freeman's speech at the End of Season Dinner Awards, which the right-back kept to a minimum after picking up the Under-21s Player of the Year Award.

“@KieronFreeman23 mate quality speech last night, quality.” To which Freeman replied: “@bryso7 I no you was inspired.”

5. @AdamLegzdins 10,858 followers

Although Shaun Barker earlier this season claimed the goalkeeper was “sitting on the fence, with a seat on it, propped up by scaffolding” for only “tweeting to appease the supporters,” the shot-stopper comes in at number five for the most followed Rams' first-team player.

Last week the former Burton Albion ‘keeper took to Twitter to retweet an old team-mate, Tony James, after the pair featured in Andy Corbett's testimonial at the Pirelli Stadium:

"Great to play with some old faces in my mate Corbs testimonial , not sure I needed another 90 mins though!"
