Rams mascot to turn out for a good cause later this month.
Derby County mascot Rammie will be turning out to support a special little girl later this month.
The Sunni May Festival & Family Fun Day will be taking place on Sunday 26th May 2013 between 1pm-11pm in aid of Lily Mae Morrison and Neuroblastoma on Castle Way in Willington, Derby.
Rammie will be in attendance between 4pm – 5pm and will invite attendees to take penalties against him.
On the 1st June 2012, 4-year-old Lily May Morrison was diagnosed with stage four Neuroblastma.
This form of cancer only affects children, usually under the age of seven, and has the highest mortality rate of any infant cancer. She has completed her chemotherapy, had a tumour taken from her spine, been in isolation for five weeks to receive her stem cell rebuild and is about to be admitted to University Hospital in London to receive pioneering treatment called Rapid Arc. She has undergone all of this treatment with courage, spirit and humour.
Neuroblastoma, in 70% of cases, after initial success the cancer will return, the only option would be to send her abroad for life-saving treatment, relapse cases aren’t treated here. Obviously this comes at a huge cost.
The festival has been organised to raise money for Lily Mae should she need to travel to America or Germany where there are treatments available with increasingly successful results, as England are a few years away from being able to offer such treatment. If however she is one of the lucky 30% that beats this horrific cancer and doesn’t relapse then the money raised by the Sunni Mae trust will be joyfully donated to the Neuroblastoma Society, a charity that solely funds finding the elusive cure.
The day of activates, it is hoped, will appeal to all ages so please and come and join Rammie for a fantastic day for an incredibly worthy cause.
The day includes:
Tickets cost £5 per person and payment for children under 13 is accepted via a donation on the door.
All proceeds will go to the Sunni Mae Trust and tickets can be obtained from: gigantic.com.
