Craig Forsyth has urged the Derby County squad to not rest on their laurels after reaping the rewards of their hard work with a 2-1 home win against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.

Forsyth scored his third goal of the season - his 12th for the club overall - to set the ball rolling and Ebou Adams netted moments later as the Rams took an early lead against Blackburn.

Makhtar Gueye narrowed the scoring before the half-time break, but Derby held strong with a valiant defensive display to take all three pointsin the Sky Bet Championship.

Forsyth caught up with RamsTV to discuss an important victory for John Eustace's side.

On the emotions after a hard-fought win…

We are delighted to get that monkey off our back. We know we've not been on a great run at all, so it’s nice to get that first win under the new gaffer. It’s probably a result of the three weeks' hard work we've done on the training ground and hopefully we can now kick on and keep that momentum going.

Last week we were very disciplined off the ball and restricted Middlesbrough to not very much, but we didn't create much. We worked a lot this week on the shape and creating more chances for ourselves, and I think we did that, and we managed to take them early on.

On needing to carry forward the momentum...

We want to try and get on a run ourselves now. We know we've got another home game coming up on Tuesday against Coventry, so it's important that we enjoy this victory, but make sure that we recover well and ready to go again.

It has been a little bit strange for me. I’m just delighted to get on the scoresheet and to get that first win in a while. We're off the bottom of the table, which looks a little bit better, but we need to keep going. We can't rest on this, and we need to build the momentum. We've worked hard through the week for the last three weeks and we've now got a reward, but we can't stop and rest on that. We need to keep going.
