Derby County will play their second home game of the calendar year in the Sky Bet Championship when they go head-to-head with promotion-chasing Sunderland at Pride Park Stadium on Tuesday night (7:45pm kick-off).


The Rams are looking to reverse their fortunes after a 2-0 home loss against Watford on Saturday followed a disappointing spell of results. Paul Warne side are eager to get back to picking up points as they sit 19th in the Championship after 27 games.

Régis Le Bris’ Sunderland side are fourth in the table with 14 wins from their 27 games so far this term. They will enter Tuesday night’s clash following a goalless draw at third-placed Burnley at the weekend.

Team News

Centre-back Curtis Nelson suffered a severe knee injury in Saturday's game against Watford and will be out for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.

Striker Lars-Jorgen Salveson is in contention for selection although he is having his fitness assessed. He was the Rams first signing of the January transfer window, joining from Viking FK last week during their off-season.


Winger Corey Blackett-Taylor is having his fitness assessed after sustaining a knock towards the end of Saturday’s match while Nat Phillips (calf) is being reviewed after sustaining an injury in last week's Emirates FA Cup Third Round clash at Leyton Orient.


Defender Ryan Nyambe and midfielder David Ozoh are back in training after spells out injured and building up their sharpness.

Sam Allison will officiate the Championship fixture. He has refereed 12 games in the second tier this season, handing out 56 yellow cards and no red cards. Allison has refereed the Rams once this season, in their 2-1 win over Coventry City on the road in November.

Andrew Fox and Hristo Karaivanov will be the assistant referees while Gavin Ward will take on the fourth official duties.
