Derby County Under-21s forward Tony Weston’s loan spell with National League side Boston United has been extended until the end of the 2024/25 season.
The 21-year-old joined Boston on an initial six-month loan after he signed a new one-year deal with the Rams in July 2024.
The loan period has now been extended to give the young attacker more senior football experience with the National League side. Weston has made 15 appearances for the Pilgrims so far this term, scoring once.
Weston joined Derby’s Under-21s squad at the beginning of the 2023/24 season, where he made regular appearances for Jake Buxton’s side and made his first senior appearance for the Rams in November 2023 in the EFL Trophy clash with Wolves Under-21s, rounding off the scoring in a 4-1 win.
Meanwhile, Under-21s striker Lennon Wheeldon has returned from his month-long loan spell with Boston.
The 18-year-old England youth international featured three times for the Pilgrims in the National League, earning four points with a 3-1 win over Braintree and a goalless draw with Ebbsfleet.
Wheeldon linked up with Boston on a short-term deal towards the end of November 2024 after featuring regularly for the Rams’ Under-21s this season. He has made four appearances in Premier League 2, where he has netted three goals.
