Defender Callum Elder praised Derby County's ‘resolute’ performance and admitted the team’s disappointment was there for all to see after two late goals saw them fall to defeat at Luton Town on Friday night.
Derby fell to defeat despite putting on a spirited performance at Kenilworth Road, with two goals in the final knockings of the Sky Bet Championship contest seeing the Hatters complete a devastating comeback after Kayden Jackson had given Derby the lead on the hour.
Elder spoke to RamsTV following the match at Kenilworth Road.
On the manner of defeat against Luton…
It's obviously really disappointing. For 90 minutes, I thought we more than matched them, to a man, right across the pitch. We were resolute in our defending and created a chances, especially in the second half. It's sickening really to concede two goals so late, two deflections. We can take massive pride in our performance.
We were excellent against Portsmouth last Friday and we were excellent again tonight. We are extremely disappointed to concede those two goals late on, but we've got another big game at home on Boxing Day against West Bromwich Albion, so we'll bounce back together.
On frustration not to get the result after a solid performance…
Coming into the match, we were full of confidence off the back of two good performances at Burnley and then at home to Portsmouth. It's disappointing, but I thought we were excellent and our game plan worked really well. We nullified them, but it can happen in football and the lads are gutted with the result.
