Derby County Head Coach Paul Warne stressed the importance of his side coming out on top in the small moments in order to get results away from home ahead of Wednesday night’s Sky Bet Championship clash at Coventry City (7:45pm kick-off).

The Rams will be looking to bounce back from a 2-1 defeat at Stoke City when they head to the Coventry Building Society Arena.

The defeat ended a four-game unbeaten run that began with a 2-0 win over Queens Park Rangers before the last international break.

Warne spoke to RamsTV ahead of the midweek clash with the Sky Blues to discuss picking up points on the road and his respect for Coventry boss Mark Robins.

On needing to be at their best to get points in the Championship…

I don't think we were at our best at Stoke and if you're going to pick up points in the Championship, even more so away from home, you have to be at your best. Anyone who turns up at Coventry to watch the Mighty Rams, please get right behind the lads because we're going to need everything to come away with a positive result - but we're very confident in doing that.

On not getting the result on the road…

I thought that perhaps the Stoke game was one of our worst performances away from home, but I've been watching all our away games back and for many of the matches it's the small moments that decide them. Against Sunderland we lost 2-0, but we had more corners, shots and shots on target than them. We have moments in the games, but we have to take advantage of them.

Prior to us conceding a foul of a goal, we might have come out Stoke with a 1-1 draw, even though we hadn't played as well as we should.

On needing to take advantage in crucial moments…

In every game, the lads have been good and in moments, the opposition have been better. For us to get a win away from home, things have to go right.

We could have beaten Millwall, but we conceded a sloppy goal to draw 1-1. They've since gone on to win three out of the next three and they're now just one place short of the play-offs. I don't feel like we're a long way away from being outstanding, but we just have to, from the first to the last kick, have every detail nailed down.

On Wednesday's opponents Coventry…

Coventry are a very good team, who have spent well around £50 million in the last two years. I know how tough away games are and they are a really well-structured and athletic team.

On Coventry manager Mark Robins…

I played with Mark Robins. He was part of a dynamic front three that I was in. I carried the piano and he played it! He was a phenomenal goalscorer and I've always kept in contact with him ever since. I've also played for him as well.

He's a really good football bloke, who's done an amazing job at Coventry. At times I think the fans might forget what an amazing job he's done - how he steered the club through bad times to be that close to getting promoted to the Premier League recently. Robbo has been there a long time, so I just think it shows what a great guy and what a great manager he's been.
