Derby County Women have secured the signature of Northern Ireland Under-19 defender Sarah Tweedie.
The 19-year-old has linked up with the Ewes from Northern Ireland Premier League side Glentoran to add some more defensive steel to the Ewes squad.
Tweedie also brings international experience to the group, with 16 appearances across the Northern Ireland Under-19s and Under-17s squads since 2022.
She was recently part of Glentoran’s squad for their UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifying campaign. The centre-back made two appearances at the heart of defence – keeping a clean sheet in a 1-0 reverse against Armenian side Pyunik and playing in an eventful 3-2 defeat against Slovenian side ŽNK Mura.
The defender also spent time with Huddersfield Town Women in the FA Women's National League Northern Premier Division, joining the Terriers in December 2023.
Derby will be back in action when they head to Yorkshire for their FA Women’s National League Northern Premier Division tie with Hull City Ladies on Sunday 27th October (2pm kick-off) following a two-week break, after nine games played this season.
Griffiths’ side are next in action at home on Sunday 3rd November for their Adobe Women’s FA Cup First round clash with Leafield Athletic (1pm kick-off).
Tickets for the Ewes home games can be found here.
