Attacker Marcus Harness admitted his delight after netting his first goal for the club as Derby County secured a 2-0 home victory over Queens Park Rangers in the Sky Bet Championship at Pride Park Stadium on Saturday.

Harness joined the Rams on loan from Ipswich Town at the end of the summer window and has made four appearances for the side since his arrival.

The clash with QPR was his first start for the club on home turf and he marked it with a fine goal as two goals inside two minutes early in the second half secured the victory.

Harness caught up with RamsTV after the game to discuss settling into life at the club and getting a crucial first goal for trhe Rams under his belt.

On scoring his first goal for the club…

It was a good win and good performance to go with it as well. We're really happy with that. It's always a weight off the shoulders to get a goal so early on. For it to come on my first start here was enjoyable. I feel like we should have probably scored more in the first half. At 1-0, the game's always in the balance. To get the second goal so fast was a big relief.

On the changes made at half-time…

It was just us getting together and realising how well we were playing, and how much control we had. We needed to do the final action to get ahead in the game and then, after that, just needed a bit of belief. We went out in the second half and ramped it up.

Once we got the first goal, it was that belief that I spoke about. That came from getting on the front foot and applying pressure straight away. Thankfully, we managed to get a second really quickly and kill the game off.

On settling into life as a Derby County player…

Everyone's been welcoming and I think I'll fit into the group really quickly. There are always challenges trying to get on the same page as people and build relationships on the pitch. But I think we built on a lot of them today with the lads that were playing around me. It gives me a lot of confidence going into the matches going forward. Today was a good one.
