Derby County midfielder Ebou Adams has joined up with the Gambian national team for their Africa Cup of Nations Preliminary Qualifying matches against Madagascar.

Adams has been a constant in Paul Warne’s Rams squad in the Sky Bet Championship, making nine appearances since signing on a permanent deal in the summer, after an inspired loan spell in the second half of the 2023/24 promotion-winning campaign from League One.

The midfielder will link up with the Scorpions’ squad ahead of an AFCON Qualifying double-header with Madagascar. The Gambia will play out their fixtures in Morocco, on Friday 11th October and Monday 14th October.

Adams has played over 20 times for his nation since making his debut in 2018. He featured in both of Manager Johnathan McKinstry’s Scorpions’ qualifying fixtures for the 2025 tournament: starting in a 1-1 draw against Comoros and featuring as a late substitute in a 2-1 defeat against Tunisia.
