We look at what events are coming up during the month of August for the Men’s first team, as well as the Under-21s and Under-18s at Academy level, the Women’s first-team, club events, community campaigns and birthdays across Derby County.
With all fixtures now released for the 2024/25 campaign, August sees the beginning of the season for the Men's First Team, Women's First Team, Under-21s and Under-18s.
There are 14 matches to play during the month of August as the 2024/25 campaign begins!
Friday 2nd August – Wilson’s birthday!
Derby Women’s midfield maestro and Young Player of the Season Emelia Wilson, who is entering her fourth season in Sam Griffiths’ side, will celebrate her 21st birthday.
Saturday 3rd August – Men’s First Team Vs Real Valladolid (H) 3pm
Paul Warne’s side will take on La Liga side Real Valladolid at Pride Park Stadium in the side’s final pre-season fixture before the Sky Bet Championship gets underway.
Sunday 4th August – Joycey’s birthday!
The Ewes’ midfield stalwart and 2023/24 Player of the Season Emily Joyce, who rose through the youth ranks at the club, will celebrate her 25th birthday.
Monday 5th August – Summer signing Osborn’s birthday!
Ben Osborn will celebrate his 30th birthday! The Derby-born versatile player became the Rams’ first signing of the summer at the end of June.
Friday 9th August – Men’s First Team Vs Blackburn Rovers (A) 8pm
Paul Warne’s side kick off the Sky Bet Championship season with an away trip to Ewood Park to take on Blackburn Rovers in front of the Sky Sports cameras.
Tuesday 13th August – Men’s First Team Vs Chesterfield (H) 7:45pm
Round One of the Carabao Cup will see Chesterfield make the short trip to Pride Park Stadium.
Friday 16th August – Under-21s Vs Aston Villa (A) 7pm
Jake Buxton’s Under-21s will get their 2024/25 Premier League 2 campaign under way with a trip to Bodymoor Heath Training Ground to face Aston Villa.
Saturday 17th August – Under-18s Vs Liverpool (H) 12pm
Derby County Under-18s will start their Premier League - North season on home turf against Liverpool at Moor Farm Training Ground.
Saturday 17th August – Men’s First Team Vs Middlesborough (H) 12:30pm
The Rams host Middlesborough in their first home game at Pride Park Stadium of the 2024/25 Sky Bet Championship campaign, once again in front of the Sky Sports cameras.
Sunday 18th August - Women’s First Team Vs Sporting Khalsa (A) 2pm
Sam Griffiths’ Ewes side will kick off the FA Women’s National League Premier Division North campaign on the road against newly-promoted Sporting Khalsa at the Guardian Warehousing Arena.
Monday 22nd August – Ward and Rooney’s birthday!
It will be a joint birthday celebration as Rams defenders Joe Ward and Jake Rooney turn 29 and 21, respectively.
Friday 23rd August – Under-21s Vs Manchester City (H) 7pm
The Under-21s will play out their first home fixture of the 2024/25 Premier League 2 campaign against Manchester City.
Saturday 24th August – Under-18s Vs Newcastle United (A) 1pm
Danny Maye's Under-18s will make the long trip to the north-east to face Newcastle United in their first away fixture of the campaign.
Saturday 24th August – Men’s First Team Vs Watford (A) 3pm
Paul Warne’s men will head to Vicarage Road for the second away day of the Sky Bet Championship season.
Sunday 25th August – Women’s First Team Vs Wolverhampton Wanderers (H) 2pm
Derby County Women will face Wolverhampton Wanderers for the Ewes’ first home game of the 2024/25 season at the Don Amott Arena in Mickleover.
Sunday 25th August – Fornah’s anniversary!
Midfielder Tyrese Fornah will celebrate a year as a Derby player, having signed for the Rams on this day in 2023.
Wednesday 28th August - Women’s First Team Vs Loughborough Lightning (H) 7:45pm
Sam Griffiths' Ewes will welcome Loughborough Lightning to the Don Amott Arena for in the Determining Round of the League Cup.
Friday 30th August - Transfer Window closes
The summer transfer window, which opened on 14th June 2024, will close at 11pm.
Friday 30th August – Under-21s Vs Newcastle United (H) 7pm
Jake Buxton’s team come up against Newcastle United at Matlock Town's Proctor Cars Stadium.
Saturday 31st August – Under-18s Vs Stoke City (H) 11am
The young Rams will take on Stoke City’s Under-18s at Moor Farm Training Ground in their second home fixture of the season.
Saturday 31st August – Men’s First Team vs Bristol City (H) 3pm
Derby will close out the month on home turf with a fixture against the Robins at Pride Park Stadium, which will see midfield pair Max Bird and Jason Knight make their returns to the club where they began their careers.
