Derby County’s young goalkeeper Jack Thompson has joined Kettering Town on loan.
The Rams’ shot-stopper has joined the Southern League Premier Division Central side, with the loan period being for a month, as he looks to gain some valuable experience in senior men’s football.
The youngster linked up with Kettering last weekend after he was given permission to feature in a friendly against Lye Town.
Thompson, who has been on the books with Derby since the age of eight, spent pre-season with Paul Warne’s first team squad, including taking part in the week-long warm-weather training camp in Spain as part of the group with senior goalkeeper Josh Vickers and Goalkeeping Coach Andy Warrington.
At the age of 17, the Rams’ youngster played on a regular basis for Derby’s Under-21s last season and put pen-to-paper on his first professional contract with the club, which will see him through to the summer of 2026.
Thompson received his first England Under-18s call-up in early 2024 to round off a fine individual season, before joining the first-team squad for pre-season.
