The FA Cup So Far...

Derby County Women have rattled home 14 goals in three matches to reach the Fourth Round of this season's FA Cup.

Their journey began with an impressive 5-1 win at Lincoln City in November.

Sam Griffiths’ side navigated their way past a tricky First Round tie against the Imps with skipper Amy Sims netting a hat-trick and forward Yasmin Mosby helping herself to a double in Lincolnshire.

Sims opened the scoring inside the opening 20 minutes to set the Ewes on their way before she added a second for herself and Derby on the stroke of half-time.

Mosby made it three immediately after the interval and despite seeing the hosts pull a goal back shortly afterwards, Sims went on to complete her hat-trick just after the hour mark to restore the side’s three-goal advantage.

Mosby rounded off the scoring with ten minutes remaining from the penalty spot to cap off another strong away day showing from the Ewes.

They then cruised through their Second Round test with a 4-1 home win over Loughborough Lightning.

Despite falling a goal behind to the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands leaders early on, through Lauren Purchase’s close-range finish, Griffiths’ side stormed back to run out comfortable victors.

Forward Eleanor Ashton equalised with a composed finish ahead of half-time, before the Ewes went on to take control at the Don Amott Arena in the second period.

Skipper Sims bundled the ball home from a corner to put Derby ahead before Ashton added her second with a thunderous strike.

Midfielder Rebecca May rounded off the scoring late on with a trademark long-range strike, this time from a free-kick.

The Ewes superbly booked their place in the Fourth Round with a 5-1 away win at Chester Le Street Town Ladies before Christmas.

A first half goal-blitz saw them cruise into the next round and forward Mosby got the ball rolling after just three minutes and midfielder May doubled the lead inside the opening five minutes.

Skipper Sims added two more goals to her tally for the season either side of the half hour mark before Mosby added her second and Derby's fifth just before the break.

Chester Le Street pulled a goal back midway through the second half through Laura Hockaday, but it was nothing more than a consolation for the hosts as the Ewes comfortably avoided a cup upset against lower league opposition in wet and muddy conditions.
