Assistant Head Coach Richie Barker felt Derby County were 'absolutely excellent' in their 2-0 home victory over Exeter City on Tuesday night.

Derby bounced back from Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Shrewsbury Town with an impressive performance at Pride Park and goals from Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Conor Washington sealed the win in Sky Bet League One.

Speaking to RamsTV after the game, Barker gave his verdict on the performance.

On the performance...

I thought we were absolutely excellent. The lads did everything that we'd asked of them and totally dominated the game. I thought the ones that started and the ones that came on were all excellent.

On starting well...

I thought they were as good as we've been for a good few weeks.I was a bit disappointed that we didn't use the start we made to get a goal up and lost our way for 5 or 10 minutes by going away from what had made us successful but after we got our goal I don't remember them having a shot.

On the attacking football...

Some of the football in the second half in terms of the way we moved the ball about quickly, counter-attacking and getting up the pitch - I thought it was a performance that deserved more goals really.

On Conor Washington getting a goal...

He took his goal really well and it will give him a real boost in confidence. He's been in and out of the team, as one or two others have been, but I'm sure it will do him the world of good to get a goal.

On using this game as a marker...

I don't think it's anything that we didn't know beforehand. It's one defeat in nine in all competitions but at times we haven't been able to replicate the performance level on a regular basis. We were in relatively decent form before the international break and we've had to start again. We're getting players back fit and we've got good competition for places and hopefully now it will continue in the next few weeks.
