Derby County’s Under-21s squad has been bolstered with the addition of two more players.

Jake Buxton’s squad has been enhanced with a number of signings in recent months after a raft of players departed at the end of the 2022/23 campaign.

Northern Ireland youth international defender Henry Jeffcott has joined the Under-21s on loan from Premier League side Arsenal for the campaign.

Jeffcott, who is 19, can play at left-back or in central defence and spent some time on trial with the Rams in recent weeks.

He joined Arsenal at the age of 12 after previously being with Chelsea and has featured for the Gunners in recent seasons at both Under-21 and Under-18 level.

Also joining the Under-21s squad for the season after a trial spell is winger Alex Gibson-Hammond following his recent departure from East Midlands neighbours Nottingham Forest.

The 20-year-old was a regular for the Reds in Premier League 2 in the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons and recorded 40 appearances in total, as well as chipping in with six goals and six assists.

Gibson-Hammond was also an unused substitute for the Reds’ first team in their Carabao Cup Round Two tie at Grimsby Town last season.

In addition, Under-21s forward George Nunn has extended his loan spell at local non-league side Mickleover FC by a further month.
