Derby County’s Jason Knight impressed for the Republic of Ireland on Monday night as they picked up a welcome victory over Gibraltar at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.
Ireland were 3-0 winners in the UEFA 2024 European Championship Group B Qualifier to pick up their first points of the group stage at the third attempt.
All the goals came in the second half with Celtic’s Mikey Johnston, Brighton & Hove Albion’s Evan Ferguson and Norwich City's Adam Idah finding the back of the net for Stephen Kenny’s side.
It was the perfect way for midfielder Knight, who was deployed in the right wing-back role and produced a fine performance which saw him claim the Man of the Match award, to pick up his 20th senior international cap for his country.
Knight played 85 minutes before being replaced by former Derby midfielder and fellow Academy graduate Jeff Hendrick.
Next up for Ireland in their qualification campaign is a trip to France in early September, followed by a home clash with the Netherlands a few days later.
