Derby County’s Under-21s were heavily beaten on the road at Newcastle United on Friday evening in their latest Premier League 2 - Division 2 outing.
The result leaves Pat Lyons’ side still looking for their first points of the 2022/23 season following four successive defeats to start the new campaign.
Dylan Stephenson put Newcastle ahead after eight minutes and the home side’s lead was doubled by the midway point of the half through Kyle Crossley.
Stephenson doubled his tally for the evening before the hour mark, while Crossley also netted his second of the night with 64 minutes on the clock.
Derby dug in to ensure the scoreline wasn’t bigger on what was a tough evening for the youthful line-up.
The Under-21s will return to Premier League 2 - Division 2 action in a fortnight’s time when they host Southampton at Loughborough University Stadium on Friday 9th September (7pm kick-off).
