Derby County Under-18s midfielder Darren Robinson has been named in a Northern Ireland senior team training camp which will take place at St George’s Park this week.
The 17-year-old linked up with the squad today (Monday 16th May) and will spend four days with the national team as he aims to impress Northern Ireland boss Ian Baraclough.
The camp in England will provide an opportunity to assess the fitness levels of regular squad members and to bring players from both the Under-21s and Under-19s into the senior set-up to see how it operates.
“It will enable the younger players to showcase what they’re all about and increase their experience of international football with the senior team coaches and players,” Baraclough explained.
Robinson, who signed a scholarship with the club at the start of the 2021/22 campaign as has played for Northern Ireland at youth international level, made his senior debut for the Rams in a 3-1 defeat against Bristol City at Pride Park Stadium in April 2022 as he replaced Louie Watson in the 82nd minute of the game.
He was a regular in Derby’s Under-18s and Under-23s squad during the season, whilst he has stepped up and trained with Wayne Rooney’s first team on a number of occasions throughout the campaign.
The midfielder, who won the club's Scholar of the Season at the recent End of Season awards night, now has the opportunity to impress Northern Ireland manager Baraclough during the training camp in England which is set to conclude on Thursday 19th May.
