Derby County striker Jack Stretton has been called up to the Scotland Under-21s side for their upcoming international fixture.

The Rams’ Academy graduate has been named in the squad to face Denmark in their opening UEFA Under-21 Championship qualifying match.

Scotland's Under-21s will host the Danes at Hearts’ Tynecastle Stadium on Thursday 7th October (7:05pm kick-off).

It is Stretton’s second call up to the Scottish Under-21s side, however, he was forced to withdraw last month owing to UK Government rules where England-based players were not exempt from travelling to a red-list country and the striker would have faced a 10-day isolation period.

Stretton has featured for Scotland’s Under-19s squad as he played 72 minutes in a 1-1 draw against the Czech Republic in February 2020.

The 20-year-old, who scored his first goal for the Rams against Peterborough United last month, has made seven appearances for the club since making his debut against Wycombe Wanderers in November 2020.

The striker also enjoyed a loan spell away from the club at National League side Stockport County last term where he scored three times in five appearances.
