Derby County Academy coach Gary Bowyer has been appointed as the new permanent manager of Sky Bet League 2 side Salford City.
Bowyer, who took up the position of Professional Development Phase Coach in the club’s youth set-up ahead of the 2020/21 season, moved to Salford in March of this year on a temporary basis to oversee their final eleven games of the campaign.
Salford finished the season in eighth place, two points shy of the play-off places, with Bowyer recording six wins and two draws and claiming the Manager of the Month award for April.
Bowyer, who is 49, was due to return to his role in Derby’s Academy this summer but an agreement has now been reached for him to join Salford on a permanent basis.
Derby County would like to wish Gary every success in his managerial tenure with Salford.
