Manager Phillip Cocu provided an update regarding the injuries sustained to Jack Marriott and new signing Kamil Jozwiak in Derby County's Sky Bet Championship defeat against Luton Town on Saturday afternoon.
Marriott suffered an ankle injury moments after equalising for Derby at Kenilworth Road with his first goal of the season.
The striker found the bottom corner after being set up by Jozwiak, who himself had to be replaced after coming off worse following a 50/50 challenge late in the game.
And Cocu, who was frustrated following the 2-1 defeat against the Hatters, discusses the players' injuries in his post-match media commitments.
“Jack has a really swollen ankle,” Cocu admitted, speaking to RamsTV. “We have to wait and see but normally that isn’t a very good indication. He will probably need a few days to get the swelling down and then we can see what the damage is.
“Kamil felt the inside of his knee with the block. He thinks it is not too bad, but we have to assess him. We all hope it is not a serious injury, as he is important for the team.”
Meanwhile, Graeme Shinnie suffered a head injury in the early stages of Saturday’s game.
He was caught by a flying Luton arm but the manager admitted a switch at half-time which saw Louie Sibley replace the Scotland international midfielder was not due to his injury.
“Graeme Shinnie coming off was a tactical change,” Cocu said. “He did need some stitches behind his ear, but he should be okay.”
