Martin Bags First Derby Goal In A Vital Home Win Against Leicester City

Pictured here is Derby County striker Chris Martin celebrating his first goal for the club in a 2-1 home victory against Leicester City during the 2012/13 campaign.

Martin doubled Derby’s lead with a fine header from Craig Forsyth’s left-wing cross on the stroke of half-time, after Richard Keogh’s header had opened the scoring early on.

Leicester substitute Jeffrey Schlupp's fierce strike made it 2-1, but Nigel Clough’s side held on to end their eight-game run without a victory in the Sky Bet Championship.

Derby’s form improved followed the victory over the Foxes and they went on to finish the season in 10th place.

Martin was on loan from Norwich City and netted two goals in 13 appearances before sealing a permanent move to Pride Park Stadium in the summer of 2013.

The frontman has since netted 74 goals in a Derby shirt from 215 appearances.
