Goalkeeper Ben Hamer believes confidence is high in the dressing room as Derby County seek to remain unbeaten this calendar year when they face Luton Town at Kenilworth Road on Tuesday night (7:45pm kick-off).

The Rams are currently seven games unbeaten in all competitions and are yet to be beaten in 2020 heading into tomorrow’s game against the Hatters.

Luton, in contrast, have struggled for form of late. They are currently on a run of nine games without a victory following their home win against Wigan Athletic last month.

Whilst they sit bottom of the Sky Bet Championship table, Hamer knows all too well that every game in this division is tough.

But with the Rams in good form, the goalkeeper is determined to build on that positivity ahead of tomorrow’s encounter.

“We’re positive going into the game tomorrow,” he told RamsTV. “It’s a really tough place to go.

“I’ve played at Luton a few times and I’ve never had an easy game there if I’m being completely honest. It’s going to be a tough game, but we need to keep the unbeaten run going.

“No game in this league is easy. It’s a really tight ground and the fans get right behind them and from what I’m hearing we are going to have big support down there tomorrow night.

“Hopefully they can get behind us, drive us on and we will carry on looking to maintain the positive run of results we have had of late. The boys are raring to go.”

Derby’s current run of form is their best so far this season.

Following the 1-1 draw against Wigan on Boxing Day, the Rams have won four and drawn two of their last six games.

“At the start of the season, we weren’t getting the results we wanted to away from home but we have managed to go unbeaten away from home in the last four games now,” Hamer said.

“Even before that against Reading, we went into that positively, but we got a sending off that day and it didn’t go our way, but with 10 men, we were the better team for large periods of the game despite losing 3-0.

“The boys are very positive at the minute, confidence is high and everyone has smiles on their faces every day in training and going into the games with positive mindsets.

“It will be exactly the same tomorrow night when we face Luton and hopefully we can get a result there.”
