Derby County duo Tom Huddlestone and Ikechi Anya joined the Derby County Community Trust’s Active Choices weekly social at St Peter’s Church on Monday afternoon.

The weekly session aims to provide support for those in rehabilitation from substance misuse through encouraging socialising and talking to others in similar situations.

Activities included table tennis, board games, computer games and a quiz, and gave participants the chance to ask the players about life in football and beyond.

Adam Rowley, Derby County Community Trust’s Active Choices Team Leader, said: “It’s so important for our participants to integrate back into society and to get to meet Derby County players and ambassadors is fantastic for them.

“We have seen countless successes across the eight years of this programme, and it is great to be able to reward participants with these opportunities.”

Earlier this year Active Choices celebrated helping its 1000th client through recovery and other successes of 2019 have seen call-ups to the England team at the Homeless World Cup.
