Phillip Cocu has been handed an injury boost ahead of Derby County’s Sky Bet Championship clash at Charlton Athletic on Saturday afternoon (3pm kick-off).

Midfielder Krystian Bielik and defender Jayden Bogle sustained injuries which prevented them from featuring for their countries during the latest international break.

Bielik, who spent last season on loan at Charlton from Arsenal, sustained a minor muscle injury whilst training with the Poland national side.

As a result he was forced to miss their two matches as they sealed qualification to the UEFA 2020 European Championships finals next summer.

Bogle, meanwhile, was forced to withdraw from the England Under-20 squad having only recently returned to the first-team fold after a spell out of action with an ankle injury.

He left Pride Park Stadium wearing a protective boot following the victory over Luton Town before the international break and instead remained with the Rams for treatment.

When providing an update on the pair’s fitness ahead of this weekend’s trip to The Valley, Cocu expects both Bielik and Bogle to be available for selection.

The Derby boss told RamsTV: “Krystian is fine. He had an impact injury with Poland, so he couldn’t play in their games.

“When he returned to us on Tuesday of this week he could train with the squad, so he is available again.

“Jayden also trained with us today and he is available for Saturday too.”

Striker Jack Marriott sat out the Rams’ meetings with Barnsley and Luton Town prior to the international break with a minor muscle issue.

He is also now back in training and will have his fitness closely assessed ahead of the journey to the capital.

Cocu said: “It is going well with Jack too.

“He trained for part of the session today, so we have to see tomorrow how he is doing. He is progressing in a good way.”

Midfielder George Evans is also back in training after sustaining a thigh injury in training at the end of August.

He is not yet in a position to return to match action and is expected to build up his fitness with Derby’s Under-23s in the near future.

“George Evans has also had his moments back in the team training sessions,” Cocu explained.

“He won’t play for the Under-23s just yet, but he is getting fit again.”

Cocu also confirmed that Tom Huddlestone’s hamstring injury, picked up whilst scoring in the 2-2 draw at Barnsley earlier this month, will keep him out of action for ‘a couple of months’.
