Derby County are set for their first pre-season fixture on English soil on Saturday as preparations for the 2019/20 season gather pace when they make the short trip to face Burton Albion (kick-off 3pm).
In Phillip Cocu’s first game in charge for the Rams in England after two pre-season matches in Florida last week, he will be looking forward to seeing more positive signs from his squad.
Here, dcfc.co.uk has gathered all the information you will need ahead of the clash with Nigel Clough’s side, which will also see the Rams and the Brewers compete to lift the Bass Charity Vase.
THE STORY SO FAR…
Cocu met his new team just two weeks ago and spent the next ten days in Florida putting the Rams through their paces on their pre-season training camp.
While in the United States, Derby ramped up their pre-season preparations with games against Sarasota Metropolis and Championship rivals Bristol City.
Jack Marriott’s brace fired the Rams to a 2-0 victory over Sarasota as Cocu fielded different teams in each half. A storm interrupted the game against Bristol City with the first-half ending in a 1-0 defeat while the next morning, goals from Mason Bennett and Ikechi Anya sealed a 2-1 victory.
The game against Burton is the first of three friendlies on UK soil ahead of the start of the 2019/20 campaign which begins on the road against Huddersfield Town on Monday 5th August at the John Smith's Stadium.

BASS CHARITY VASE…
